Our Podiatrists

“Our journey of becoming podiatrists first began when we were patients ourselves.”
Saw Yu Ting

Ms. Saw Yu Ting, DPM

Having completed her podiatric education and surgical training in the United States, Ms. Saw Yu Ting has the distinction of being the only surgically trained Singaporean podiatrist to date. She received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) in 2017, where she was inducted into the Pi Mu Delta National Honors Service Society.

She completed her rearfoot and ankle surgical residency program in 2020 at the Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital, also covering podiatric care at two Level 1 Trauma Hospitals. During her residency training, she was extensively trained in inpatient and outpatient diabetic limb salvage, wound care, sports medicine, nail care, geriatric and pediatric care and biomechanics.

Her hands-on experience extends beyond her residency term. During her DPM degree, she trained at eight different city hospitals around the New York City area. This allowed her to gain a wide range of exposure to varying podiatric pathologies. As a student, she was also awarded the Dr. Sidney Solid Award for excellence and accomplishment in podiatry and service to the podiatric community.

Jackie Tey, Chief Podiatrist at Straits Podiatry. Singapore Podiatrist

Mr. Jackie Tey

Mr Jackie Tey is a recipient of MOH Holdings’ Health Science and Nursing Scholarship for Podiatry and began his podiatry career at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) followed by Sengkang General Hospital (SKH). During his time serving in public healthcare institutions, he was part of a multidisciplinary team and worked closely with Orthopaedic surgeons, Vascular Surgeons and Endocrinologists in treating patients with complex diabetic foot complications. He was also involved in clinical research to help improve care delivery and patient outcomes. His passion and genuine care earned him recognition and awards during his time at SKH. His dedication to patient care also led to the innovation of a new negative pressure wound dressing technique, for which he and his team won the first prize internationally.

Aside from his commitments to diabetic foot, Mr Tey also has extensive experience in treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, and paediatric lower limb conditions. He has a strong interest in lower limb biomechanics and sports injuries and is very well-regarded by his peers for his deep knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of various lower limb conditions. His interest in these areas was led by his experience in growing up with flatfeet and competing in basketball, hockey and volleyball. These experiences have also given him a keen ability to relate to patients with sports injuries and the first-hand experience to treat them effectively.
